5-69. DIFFERENTIAL ASSEMBLY REPAIR (CONT).
(22) Position shims (26) carefully on differential
carrier (27) so oil return holes align
properly.
Be certain mounting surfaces and shims
are free of dirt and nicks or leaks may
occur and pinion position can be affected
resulting in damage to differential carrier.
(23) Install pinion assembly (28) in differential
carrier (27).
(24) Apply retaining compound to six screws (29)
and install with washers (30). Tighten
screws 100 to 120 lb-ft (135 - 162 N-m).
(25) Install bearing cups (30 and 31) on
bearings (3 and 1).
