Remove test equipment from starter assembly. If measured performance is not within specifications,
go to step four. If measured performance is within specifications, starter is functioning correctly.

If pinion rotates and measured performance is not within specifications, perform following no-load test.
(a)
Remove solenoid (para 5-49).
(b)
Connect multimeter from starter motor terminal to starter motor frame.
(c)
Connect negative battery terminal to starter motor frame.
(d)
Mount tachometer to measure armature rpm.
