(6) Check machined parts for nicks and burrs.
(7) Check bearings for loose rollers and cracked or broken races.
(8) Coat all bearings with lubricating oil.
(9) If pinion or ring gear is bad, replace both as a matched set.
(10) Replace damaged parts.

Assembly.
(1) Install bearing cone (1) on left-hand case
half (2).
(2) Install bearing cone (3) on right-hand case
half (4).
