Assemble Fuel Pump
Refer to Figs. 1, 3 and 7 and assemble the pump as
follows: 1. Lubricate the lips of the oil seals with a light
coat of vegetable shortening, then install the oil seals in
the pump body as follows:
The inboard seal facing "IN" requires
CAUTION:
greater care at assembly or service to prevent seal lip
damage.
a. Place the inner oil seal on the pilot of the
installer handle J 1508-8 so that the lip of the seal will
face in the same direction as the original seal which was
removed, or according to the application as previously
described.
b. With the pump body supported on wood blocks
(Fig. 8), insert the pilot of the installer handle in
