Post signs that read ` O SMOKING WITHIN 50 FEET (15 m)'when working with open fuel, fuel

liner or fuel tanks.
Do not work on fuel system when engine Is hot; fuel can be ignited by a hot engine.
FUEL INSPECTION
(1) Disconnect negative battery cable
(2) Set parking brake (pare 2-13).
(3) Check sediment bowl for
contaminated fuel.
(a) If fuel is contaminated, drain
fuel tank (para 4-29).
(b) if fuel is OK, indicates faulty
fuel filter.
(4) Connect negative battery cable
FUEL FILTER INSPECTION
(1) Open left engine door, (para 2-14).
(2) Check fuel filter for clogging or
damage.
(a) If fuel filter is clogged or
damaged, replace (para 4-52).
(b) If fuel filter is OK, indicates
improper throttle cable
adjustment.
