WINCH OPERATION SLOW OR ERRATIC:
Step 1.
Check brushes in motor for excessive wear.
Step 2.
Check bushings in motor for wear.
17.
WINCH FAILS TO HOLD:
Step 1.
Check brake disk for excessive wear.
18.
ANGLE DRIVE GEAR BOX OVERHEATS:
Step 1.
Check for clogged oil passages.
Make sure all oil passages are clear and permit free flow of lubricant (para 6-3).
Step 2.
Check shaft end play.
19.
ANGLE DRIVE GEAR BOX VIBRATES, IS NOISY:
Step 1.
Check loose foundation bolts.
Step 2.
Check for excessive shaft end play.
Replace worn bearings or gears. Shim bearings to obtain recommended fit
Step 3.
Check bearing wear. Wear will cause dullness of balls, rollers, and raceways.
Replace worn bearings. Clean and flush with reducer, install clean oil (para 6-8).
Step 4.
Check for broken parts, or loose bolts, nuts, and screws. Be sure lockwire is not broken.
Tighten loose bolts, nuts, or screws. Replace broken parts (para 6-4 thru 6-8).
