DRIVE BELT INSPECTION
(1) Open left engine door (pare 2-14).
(2)
Check drive belt for obvious damage.
(a) Replace drive belt if damaged
(para 4-68).
(b) If drive belt is not damaged,
check drive belt deflection.
(3) Measure drive belt deflection at
longest span of belt. Maximum
deflection is 3/8 to 1/2 inch (9.5 to
12.7mm).
(a) lf drive belt is not within limits,
replace drive belt tensioner
(para 4-69).
(b) lf drive belt is within limits
indicates faulty alternator.
