This task covers:
Tool kit, general mechanics: automotive
TM or Para
Negative battery cables
Use caution when removing drive belt.
Belt tensioner is extremely rigid and can
(1) Unload belt tensioner (2) and remove drive
belt (1) from belt tensioner. Slowly release
(2) Remove drive belt (1) from pump pulley (3)
crankshaft pulley (4), fan pulley (5), and
pulley (6), fan pulley (5), crankshaft
pulley (4), and pump pulley (3), and load
belt tensioner (2).
(2) Install drive belt (1) on belt tensioner (2)
and slowly release belt tensioner.
(3) Measure belt (1) deflection at longest point using tension gauge at 80 to 110 lbs (36 - 49 kgs). Deflection
limit is l/2 to 3/8 in. (9.5 - 12.7 mm). If measurement is not within limits, replace belt.
